Becoming a Firefighter

First, understand that becoming a firefighter is a process not an event. Being
a firefighter requires continual learning and regular training but the rewards are well worth the effort. When your capabilities warrant, you will be appointed
a Call Firefighter and be paid for each call to which you respond.

All the excitement and money too!

The basic criteria are:

  • You must be at least fifteen (15) years of age.
  • You must be physically fit.
  • You must be ready to train hard and never stop learning.

Note: You must be 21 years of age to drive a fire department vehicle.

Getting started is very easy:

  • Come to the fire station or call 821-6866 and request an application. Or you can print it out right now.
  • Complete the application, sign and date it. If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must also sign the application.
  • Return or mail the completed form to the station.

After the application will be reviewed, you will meet with a Chief Officer for an interview.

If successful, you will be appointed a Probationary Firefighter and begin an exciting new adventure!
