Fire Vehicles

Firefighters usually refer to vehicles as "apparatus". For the sake of clarity, we've used "vehicle".

Pictures and descriptions of all Hopkins Hill Fire Department vehicles are shown in the Equipment section. Provided here is a brief description of each vehicle.

Vehicles include:

Quint 1.
This is a very capable, state of the art machine which includes an extendable ladder, an on board 500 gallon water supply and the full pumping capabilities normally found in a fire "engine" or "pumper"
truck. It is so highly regarded in the area that the "Quint" is listed by many districts in Coventry and surrounding towns, as the first ladder (first due) vehicle those departments wish to respond to an incident where ladder capability is required. Click here for more details on the Quint.

Engine 6.
New Engine 6 went into service in October, 2003 and represents a quantum leap for Hopkins Hill Fire District.  Digital technology, state of the art fire capability and robust construction ensure a vehicle which will serve dependably and well for many years to come. For more details, click here

Old Engine 6. (Retired)
This vehicle is painted the yellow color which gained some popularity for a while during the 70's and 80's when it was thought to be more highly visible in low light conditions.  It is a 1,000 gallon per minute (gpm) pumper and was the first diesel powered fire vehicle in Coventry when it was purchased in 1973. Since then, it is estimated that Engine 6 has pumped over 1,000,000 gallons of water in fighting fires in the area. Click here for more details on Old Engine 6.

Brush 2
One of the newest, yet oldest pieces of apparatus is Brush 2. It is a military surplus 1984 Chevrolet 4x4  pick-up truck. When it came to us, it was still painted the traditional military green. With most of the work done in house by some crafty firefighters and help from more than a few sponsors, this truck took shape quickly. It is a very capable apparatus and will serve us well. Thanks to all those who helped put this apparatus on the road. Click here for more details on Brush 2.
