
April 1976 I joined as a member of the fire department. In February 1992 I became the fulltime Chief. We have met and will continue to meet the challenges of growth and change. This web site demonstrates our intent to continue to take advantage of the latest technology in meeting our obligations to the citizens of this district
The Hopkins Hill Fire Department offers structural fire and wildfire suppression, emergency medical services consisting of basic and advanced life support. We are one of seven fire districts serving the Town of Coventry, Rhode Island. The department provides protection to its 5000 residents and a mutual aid response throughout the rest of the Town and its 30,000 residents.
Emergency calls numbered over 900 in the year 2012, with 65% of the call volume related to providing emergency medical services. The department is a combination of paid/volunteer cross-trained, dual roll firefighters/emergency medical technicians. Seven full time firefighters and an active roster of over 38 volunteer personnel staff the department.
The Hopkins Hill Fire Department is also one of seven local departments in the state tasked with regional Mass Casualty Decontamination.
